About Simplicissimus
Simplicissimus was a saterical German weekly periodical in newspaper format, headquartered in Munich, and founded by Albert Langen in April 1896. It continued publishing until 1967, interrupted by a hiatus from 1944–1954, and became a biweekly in 1964.
Simplicissimus was published as a periodical in newspaper format with lots of color illustrations and three columns of text on the page. My translations are simple one column pages with pictures placed in line as normal for Epubs and Ezines. These can only be accessed on my Patreon page. There are a mix of free issues and those only for my patrons. The First five issues are free and every other issue going forward will be free as well.

Simplicissimus Vol 1, No. 1 1896
This is the first issue of the famous German magazine Simplicissimus. It was originally published in newspaper format. I’ve translated the magazine into English and added the art as best I can. This issue is free to read in docx and pdf formats. The first five issues will be free and then every other issue will be for patrons only. I plan two issues of Simplicissimus and Jugend each month.

This issue is free to access as a PDF and Epub file. I encourage everyone to check it out! This issue in particular really pulls at my heart strings. I felt that I needed to translate this issue because pain and loss are everywhere and have always been! This is a very beautiful issue and if you read it you will see why I love this magazine!

Simplicissumus was first published in the German language as a weekly arts magazine and ran for over forty years. This issue contains the stories and poems: The Voice of Life by Knut Hamsun; To the German Youth; To the Philosophical Rival; The Three Stars by Georg Herwegh; Pythia by Thomas Pen; Strivers Song by Fritz Hauthner; Old Frame by Arthur Holitscher; A Very Small Story by Ernst Brull; The Begger by Marcel Prevost; and an unnamed poem by Jakob Wassermann. Simplicissimus Vol 1 No. 5 was first published in 1896 in the German language. This is the first English language translation by Joe E Bandel. It contains the original stories and art as much as possible but in epub format. The stories and poems include: ‘A fin de siecle Daughter’ by S. von Schewitsch; ‘Peace’ by Emil Feshkau; ‘Mother Song’s’ by Mia Holm; ‘Ludwig Feurbach’ by Georg Herwegh; and ‘Father’ by F.
